Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) arrested a 72-year-old man on Wednesday, 05 June 2019 for alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl. It is alleged that the victim was raped between 2017 and September 2018 at Thembeni Locality, Ramra Village, Willowvale.
The victim was threatened by the suspect not to inform anyone about the alleged rape. The victim finally broke her silence to one of her relatives on Tuesday, 04 June 2019. The alleged rape was reported to Willowvale Police Station. The suspect is appearing before the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court this morning of Thursday, 06 June 2019 on a charge of rape. Butterworth Cluster Commander Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu expressed his shock and condemned the alleged rape of a minor by the suspect who is old enough to be her grandfather.
