The Bethelsdorp members arrested a 51-year-old suspect on charges of murder Sunday, 24 March 2019 in the evening, after he allegedly stabbed and assaulted his girlfriend. The 45-year-old victim from Palmar Street in Booysen Park passed away on the scene due to her injuries.
It is alleged that the woman and her boyfriend was walking in Palmar Street, Phola Park on Saturday, 23 March 2019 at approximately 20:20. According to witnesses her boyfriend pulled out a knife and stabbed her and assaulted her with a glass bottle, she sustained a stab wound in the neck and on the upper body.
The suspect fled on foot and was hiding from the police, but on Sunday just after 01:35, he was arrested by members from Bethelsdorp in Polar Park after police received information.
The suspect will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 26 March 2019, on charges of murder.
