At 13H35 Thursday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on N3 West bound Farningham Ridge in Pinetown.
Reports from scene indicate that a mini-bus taxi travelling towards Pietermaritzburg crashed into the back of a truck resulting in the Mini-bus taxi rolling.
Paramedics assessed the scene and found that three adult males and one adult female had sustained fatal injuries, another eleven patient sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Due to the nature of one of the patients injuries the Netcare 2 specialised helicopter ambulance was called to the scene to airliftone of the seriously injured patients to hospital.
All necessary authorities were on scene to investigate.
