The South African Police Service in Despatch are investigating an inquest after the 28-year-old Lindikhaya Tenana died after the informal home he was sleeping in burned down at about 03:00 this morning, Monday, 3 June 2019. The family was alerted by a neighbour who informed them about a fire that had broken out and the two informal houses behind their home were on fire.
There was building material in the one structure and the other one had furniture stored inside. The Police and the Fire Department were summoned to the scene and the fire was extinguished. It was only after the fire was extinguished that the burned human remains were discovered. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage and it is under investigation.
